Owlsfoot and myself met Gosflyer today to do some rabbiting. We went on a undisclosed place that has alot of rabbits I brought my FH Seeker MH T and Charlie my Springer. Mat brought His young FH, Owlsfoot brought his ferrets and Gosflyer brought his F Gos (a lovely hawk). We decided to work Charlie with seeker first. We walked on and within 10 minuets Seeker had flew a bit in fromt of the group into a clump of trees she spoted a Rab and dropped on it before it could make its escape, Owls foot was first on the scene and the rabbit was despatched and placed in the bag. We carried on and got to some really thick and big bramble patches Charlie was a bit giddy today but he worked really hard some of the bramble looked impenetrable but he made his wasy through. Rabbits could be seen sneaking through eventually he got em out but seekers position was not good and she didnt see the sneaky ****ers. Owlsfoot kept her on his fist and walked above the cover after that. He cast off after a fleeing Rab that Charlie bolted a bit further up but that made it to ground. After a good walk round Charlie was sent down a hill to work some dead braken and another thick patch this time Seeker was in the right place and when the rab made a break for it she gave chase from a tree and nabbed it some 70 yards away.
The day continued with the young hawks and ferrets 1 rab bolted but made it My young male was playing up and didnt seem to like the occasion and he took some time to get down so I kept him on the fist. Mats female had some great flights but didn't connect (its a good hawk this for its age)
eventuallty it was time for gosfly to get his hawk out we went to another location and tried some warrens there, we got a rab out but it ran only 10 yards and bobed back down with Mikes gos on it's tail(boy is it fast) We tried a couple of other warrens but nothing surfaced this was due to the size of the warrens I believe and the age of the ferrets they were young ferrts and inexperienced, they will make the grade I'm sure its just a matter of time.
A good day had a good laugh and made another mate Cheers Mike your a top bloke and you Paul.
A few pics didnt manage to get any of the bird until got home.
