im checking out this guys eggs

if u look above he is also selling italian ones, japanese ones and chinese ones

im looking for the bigger quails

i got my incubator kit before i went away for my hols and im gonna practice from my next week to get a hang of breeding them as an experiment and eat them myself at the moment, with pilau rice or a curry etc


what r the best ones pls

japaneese (Coturnix )....are a piece of **** to breed... never ate them myself though

lol jolly, i never tasted the japanese ones but ive tasted the asian frozen ones in the halal shops, their awesome :D

How many quail or eggs do you want, i do japs, jumbo japs, italian & tuxedo,s
you are welcome to get some of either eggs or quail to try.

My Mate does a Fish round and sells Quails eggs and they tast looooveeelyy.

I might give it a whirl myself for me and the bird.

Japanese produce eggs at a rate you'll have them to spare for the table, they grow at rate that is economical to feed (just) and go off-lay nice and fat and tender so the ex-layers are worth killing for the table.

lol heike u r too kind bud , pls i will take the best ones u recommend as gary says the japanese ones r the better ones arent they, pls no freebies i will buy them aff u :D and thanks alot bud , i went hame last night, my hame pc is messed up since last week thats why couldnt get on at nights anymare but its getting fixed the next few days and im gonna print matts write up on them too

pls heike if u can post em maybe next week or the week after and send me your details coz i will need brians help to setup the incubator haha, i dont wanna blow it up

Hi Guys,
Im probably just getting off the thread here, but has anyone tried to make their own incubator for quail production? Im a skinflint and dont want to buy one. I just want to have ago and build my own. I cant see it being rocket science???????

my brother in law gets his fertile eggs from sainsbury he reckons there always fertile,says they cant be sexed so they have males in the laying flocks,,,,tarqs

Well he's wrong there. Jap quail are simple to sex.

The adult male coturnix weighs about 100 to 140 grams (3 1/2 to 5 ounces). The male birds can be identified readily by the rusty brown colored feathers on the upper throat and lower breast region.
Males also have a cloacal gland, a bulbous structure located at the upper edge of the vent which secretes a white, foamy material.
This unique gland can be used to assess the reproductive fitness of the males

getting the humidity right will be the greatest challenge m8but trial and errol will sort it sometimes its better to get a cheap second hand one like a div i gave a good one away because i finished breeding gamefowl used to get an 85% hatch rate and it was only a cheapo i got in a boot sale fr £15 quid...

i got a whole kit from hatchin incubators for 140.00 quid plus a spare tray for hen eggs too for the future

incubator automatic one
feeder
drinker
candler still to come , it was short
big lamp and heat bulb
a metal thing like basket dont know what its for :D
disinfectant
thermometer and also a hydrometer

that metal thing like basket is normally to fit to the heating light to protect from burning( i've got one on mine anyway)
