had a corker of a morning with my FRT "sasha " today.. got to my hawking ground at around 8:15am the rain and mist had cleared on arrival, this was a good omen from the start. got togged up with all the gear:- dog, ferret, spade, hawking bag and beating stick. 25 yds from where i park the car the hedge/bank is like swiss cheese and always provides me with the first flight of the day.......it didn't let me down, bolted three rabbits of which the bird flew all three not spectacular flights as cover saved the rabbits on each occasion, but it was a start. so i moved on down through the fields where she had a further 5/6 tidy fights all walked up thanks to "will" my spaniel one flight resulted in "sasha" only having head and wings above ground and just as i was thinking what i would do to get her and the bunny out as it was a really tight fit she popped out when "will" got a bit to close for her liking. i ferret'd a few burrys after this but to no avail then one bolted from the chosen warren near a rocky out-crop the rabbit ran to my right and "sasha" gave chase both dipped out of sight and i ran to see the out-come....the 8th rabbit this season (her first season) i let her cool down and took a few piccys and went back for the ferret there she was sniffing around outside the hole from where the unfortunate rab came from.....................RESULT got the bird off the rabbit and noticed that she had alredy started to skin it lol (see pic) she had ten or more flights after that but on most flights the rabbit managed to get to another hole as there are so many where i hawk she did take one however that amazingly got away flying the rabbit up a steep sand dune she took the **** end and a great battle ensued to which i thought "sasha" had won as the rabbit had cooled down and stopped kicking but i turned my head for a second to check the ferret's location and low and behold when i looked back the rabbit was legging it up the dune i was gutted headed back to the car it was 11:45am not a bad morning for just over 3hrs work, one bunny in the bag loads of good flights and no block end's...................loving it lol

cheers sean i am lucky but ther are alot af people working it and as the season has gone on the rabbits are getting harder to bolt apart from the adjoining farm to which i have permission on its mostly common ground all sand dunes on route to the sea no trees really so all my hawking is done off the fist heres another as far as the eye can see is loaded with bunnys and theres a few mallard around the wet parts
