Can somebody out there explain or post a web page about how to do a turks head knot. I have tried and cannot get the hang of them. and they look much better than the bits of leather sticking up that I make do with on my hoods at the mo (they are pants)

That is a free sliding Turkshead.

Are you doing this on a hood?

If so and if there is a calling for it I will draw it up for the site?

Yes hawkmaster I was going to use it on some of the hoods I make just to improve their looks they work but would never win awards for beauty

Definately! I have tried several times to figure out this knot and never get anywhere - I used instructions I found on the web. Go for it HM!

Hope this helps?

Step 1:
Start with four strands or columns.
Step 2:
Take one strand and fold it on top of the one to its right.
Step 3:
Fold that one over the top of the last one.
Step 4:
Repeat
Step 5:
Repeat
Step 6: {This seems tricky BUT do one at a time and you will be fine.}
Take each end and feed it around each base column as it were and then up through the middle of the knot. Repeat this and once all are done just tighten then all up and you should be OK!

Let me know if this all make sense?

AAAHHHHHHH I guess none of you have young kids then as this is the same way they tie off the scoobie,( don't ask )
so maybe you can try some of these on top of the hoods..

Cooperman,
I am getting ready to mail you your Kazakh eagle hood patterns and I will add another picture similar to what Hawkmaster just put on the forum, it is perhaps a bit simpler.

Thanks guys I shall have to sit down and have a go isn't it sad the things we do to avoid the wife's soap operas.
Pitbull I had a go at copying the kids scobbies I will try and post a pic of the results if I get chance.

I got it figured now - thanks guys! didnt realise it made a difference to have some leather with holes in it as a base. Course, mine came out fuzzy cause I used some scrap glove leather.

what sort of leather do you used for the top-knot? the same as the rest of the hood?

It can be tied neatly through three slits also, this is what I do

Exactly the way I do mine mate... nice one. by far the simplest way I've found to do them too (so far)
