a winch isnt going to be fast enough for a dragged dummy bunny i dont think.convert a bicycle(upside down) rear wheel build sides to the rim & have 100metres of string going around it & you just pedal lol

Just make sure it has a "quick stop" method too. there have been a few broken toes and wings when a bird has hung on to the lure and been dragged thumping across the ground in to a rock or tree. Live quarry tend to avoid hazards (tho not fences) and it is not worth the risk of a damaged bird just so you can fly it after something dragged. I don't recon you can better a fast pair of legs with a good head start! or you could put your bird off if it finds it just cant catch your drag.

I knocked one up using a bait caster reel and an electric drill driving it, with a 12V plus drill with a RPM of over 1100 you should find this fast enough. You should be able to take the trigger switch off to use on a long cable.

£40 off Ebay, comes with a remote control. Remove the gearing so the rope drum is direct to the motor. Goes like the clappers !

I use one for a kite but I have tried it with a bunny lure. It works well but the real thing is even better !

This site may be of interest to those wanting a dummy towing machine. A bit rich for my blood, though!:
