Hi thanks for the support

thought she may have come back last night if she was still local- left food out but it was untouched -or this morning as we go out flying at 6.30am/6.30pm every day- but no sign

She has a couple of things in her favour- she was parent reared for 6 months- so although manned- she was never really "silly tame" in an imprint sort of way and she has taken quarry whilst out- sparrows/mice/ voles/frogs and a blackbird.

Also we live next to a small wood and open fields with plenty of quarry

So I'm hoping for the best for her-think thats the last we'll see of her though

Sounds quite good then m8, she should do ok for herself then. Better than if she had never hunted b4.

thsi sounds a bit mad...but get a pic of a barny and put down your tel number and post it out to doors and put on shops near you, what was the wind direction when the barny left....take it as a guide?

I lost mine last year and someone found my leaflet! was back in the aviary 10 minutes after she called to report it sat on her neighbours windowsill!
( i know all this might not help if it was stolen....but the leaflets will make folks aware to be on the lookout and if anyone just happened to 'acquire' one....it might trigger a response..good luck! :goodman:

Hi

thanks again for support- still not sure whether she was stolen or just released- got home and the aviary door was closed again- so at least whoever did it has some manners!!

Guessing they did not manage to catch her though as she had no jesses on and she would not have just sat there and let someone she didn't know catch her -guessing she made a break for it-

lucky really as I've got a Snowy/ASEO and Indian in the aviaries next door- so it could have been an expensive day- its still 3yrs of training down the pan even if the bird was only worth £40!

There was no wind to speak of- so she could be anywhere- even Dipton!!

I think the leaflet thing is def worth a go- cheers

If you're going down the leaflet route - an easy way to distribute and get lots of willing helpers -maybe offer a small reward- would be to contact local schools - they usually have a bulletin of some sorts and kids are usually really keen on helping out with this sort of thing - very wide distribution and they'll pass it on to parents etc!
Just a thought...
Hope you find her. Good luck.

Another success for the IBR!

Someone found her in his Garden ( don't know who you are but-thanks!)- handed it to me mate who lives up the road it spent the night in his garage- then he handed it to his mate to look after-( he didnt know mine was away)- who phoned the IBR

Thanks to Ged, Gummy and Neil at IBR

Lesson No 1 learned- make aviary secure
Lesson No 2 learned- make time to talk to mates!

Fit and healthy yeah- spent a couple of nights out on the raz and 1 night in me mates garage- where she was fed and watered- so no problems at all just the owl equivalent of a weekend in blackpool really!
