anyone still use bumper leashes these days. never hear of them much.
was thinking as perhaps for a young bird or one which has hurt its leg, foot etc,
there is some good elasticated bungie type leahses which could be used to help prevent straining on the legs of the young or weak. just a thought.

I use some braided leashes with some of the birds that bait more on the perch. It helps preventing leg injury...
It's a braid made with an elastic strand and a nylon one, in order to stretch but not brake.

I tie my leash to a rubber circle, which itself, is round the ring of the bow perch. This is as good,if not better than a traditional bumper leash. Although, reading back,i dont think i have explained this very well! oh well, i know what i mean!!!

I did a bungee jump many years ago. Stood on the top of this platform with 2 guys and a woman.
The other Guys had these Good figures and the woman too but mine Was ok not quite like there's though.
The operators asked each one of us our weights and whether we wanted to touch the water go half in or full in.
Now being a Thick sod and trying to impress the girl the weights came across the line, we all wanted to just touch the water but when it came to asking about weight i said i was about a stone lighter thinking i had impressed her:roll:
They all touched the water but Dumbo here who was going last got a rised smile from the girl and i thought that's a kind of look like 'Idiot'.
'Dont worry she said i have been up here every day of my holiday its great' ' how long i said' ...'Well i fly home tomorrow so 12 days she said'
I was strapped up and i stood there waiting i thought this is it and all of a sudden the girl said 'I lied about my weight first time too' just as i slipped off.
'Touch the water, i met the bloody crabs to say Hello on the bottom'.
When i got up she just looked.
That night i was with my mates and all i could here was Giggling by the Girls on a seperate table and eye contact.

What a Pratt!

Harisii,
Don't use bungee leashes as they have been prooven to break legs...Not reduce the strain. If you think about it the hawk will bait will allot of force then hit the ground with a streached leash. Then while their weight is putting allot of downforce on the feet the elastic pulls them back. Dr Redig of the Raptor Center doesn't recommend using them for this reason.

Minty............ First Bungee Jump:twisted:

Something like that Terry, Its Ok i know you dont mean what some others percieved it to be . I think there childish Witchunt shows them up for what they are.

That's not quite how it was but i certainly felt it that way infact it felt like that before the jump
Is that a picture of Simon?.

I can see both sides of the coin on bungee leashes but if the Bungee leash is kept short is it not better to take some of the initial impact off baiting away?
The stiffness of the Bungee on a short leash surely will not give enough counter reaction to harm the bird?
