Its not that strong Screamin Jay, but i put loads of timber 3"x3" and 4"x4", its really solid as the plastic cladding does not span far. Thought it would be ideal to clean....etc

Hi Ellis,
What are you using for the roof? and will you have a section of it open with wire for your bird to sit out when it rains.. cause they do like to sit out and have a shower.
I used Onduline for my birds roof and left a piece out about 4ft x 4ft with wire from a Heras fencing panel for when it rains..
Good luck with your Mews, it's looking good.

Thanks for the advice Albie, intend meshing 3ft of the roof and covering the remaining 5'6" with ply and felt, and the corridor. Havn't bought it yet. Have read a thread when they discussed that onduline...... is it easy to get hold of B&Q etc.

I would have barred the mesh section. Stops free lofted birds walking up and down the mesh and damaging tails.

Looks nice, but wouldn't pass inspection in the US. Needs bars on the inside of windows. The perch should be entirely covered in astroturf. The metal shelf brackets should be covered as well. What about flooring? Pea gravel is suggested.

No problems at all Moses with flying back to lower perches or any of the perches come to that.
What I have said in other posts is the reason I use Mopstick Handrail.. you can buy this from most Buliders merchants.
As you can see I fix it back from the wire so that when my birds fly to it they never grab the wire so I get no cere or tail feather damage.
The Onduline can also be bought at builders merchants and if you shop around for it it can be bought for as little as six pounds or so a sheet, and I find it stays cool in the summer and warm enough in winter so as not to have condensation dripping off it as you would get from metal or various plastic types of sheeting.
I hope this is of some help to you and Ellis.

Thanks for you comments boys... i intend putting vertical bamboo,s to protect the bird from the mesh, i shouldn't need many.Cost wise, payd £250 for about 45 sqaure metres of cladding plus odds and ends. Aquired most of the wood, but had to buy a few 8ft lengths, it shouldnt cost me more than £350 total. Intend getting pea gravel for the floor. Got about 4mths to tinker theres no rush. Slowly aquiring all the other regalia, which has been fun in itself

Warning with onduline - it warps quickly so make sure is very securely battoned down
