hi guys further to terry point about people filling out profiles,, i think this should be manditory,,,,,, you dont have to very accurate with your location just a rough guide as to where you are,,,, it would save a lot of stick for the newbie

your thoughts please

I think its a brilliant idea, helps us and saves endless questions and helps the member with any questions they might have

I can’t see what difference it would make really, nothing to stop people lying about their profile anyway!

My point exactly and it's not the first time I have said it, If Admin made it compulsory for us to fill in Profiles before being allowed to enter the site for the first time it would save a lot of grief for some people and as they progress they can update their profile to suit the current situation.
This should have been delt with long ago and I for one think it should be initiated imediatley.

I personally think that on sign up, the profile should be filled out AND you email submitted, so that the admin can email that account with a security number or something before the membership goes through. That way, if certain un desireables start causing trouble and nonsense, admin will have a back up should things get nasty, like threats with the police or legal matters.

Clive

This might help to stop people registering multiple user names, unless of course they had a number of different email addresses to utilise!

I suppose thats the problem with an open invitation forum.

Saker-Clive
05-02-2006, 07:07 PM
I agree but it might help to stop some of the morons before hand.
Even if they have multiple accounts, 99% of the time, they will use the same pc, so the admin, will know if they are using multiples.
I guess I could sign up again as my wife, daughter and son but the IP address will show up as the same computer....................this should then send alarm bells top side!

Hmmm
Difficult one, I think you should be alowed to be annonymous if you wish. There is many reason why people would like to keep their name to themself and many of the reasons are very justified.
I can agree that you could fill your profiles in a bit more, but as mentioned, it does not stop people from lying. The admin can bann people from the site and close the acsess if illigal matter or serious threats are a problem.

MickeyDredd

Have the Admin team ever banned anyone then?

Saker-Clive
05-02-2006, 07:15 PM
People don't have to give their names out for public viewing BUT the admin should have everyones real email address etc. for security reasons. This is why 99% of us use a sign in name.................most here know my name is Clive and roughly where I live but there again, I don't have nothing to hide or hide from.......................

As The Falcon Her Bells

As I said it can be many reasons why you wish to be annonymeos, not only because you have something to hide. But I agree, the admin should have your name and conntact details.
Has anyone been banned??

Should it not be left to the individual whether to fill in the profile, or to remain anonymous? Freedom of choice, I believe it's called. Should it become compulsory to complete a CV to access the forum, it'll be "Goodbye Mattspar" (do I hear the sound of distant cheering?).

I wouldnt expect anybody to reveal their name!....Well maybe just to the admin...but we should know atleast know where in the country each other are!

Just my opinion!.:yawinkle:

Real names are not required, but a little basic info would often be helpful as we have seen on many threads.

the arcade is where you play the old coin operated games from 20 years or so ago. ie pacman, space invaders etc etc.
But now you can play them for free here. but i cant answer why you cant access it. It may be due to the amount of posts you have done, ie less than 1000 i think or have you donated any money for the up keep of the forum I dont really know

personnaly i think that profiles should be filled out, if anything through politeness.

at the end of the day weall come on here for, and to give advice, and sometimes just for a bit of friendly banter. giving people who are willing to talk to you for what ever reason, an idea about yourself seems to me to be the least you could do

thats just my opinion anywhos:D
