Alreet woody! Dont take this the wrong way, but what is your previous experience with raptors? Have you kept and flown eagles in the past?

Hi,

Here is a website for the Ornate Hawk eagle http://www.naturalencounters.com/abby.html

I'm don't know if they breed Ornate Hawk Eagles, they most likely do, as they mention breeding different animals including several types of birds... I'm sure you could probably e-mail them and ask. The facility is in Florida on a 30 acre ranch.

Hope this helps :D

Good Luck,

Brittney

alrite mate i have flown only ever flown red tails all females and parent reared, been flying them for 3 years, but have got rid of them in order to raise money and make room for hopefully my first eagle either this year or next. just trying to get a few contacts of eagle breeders, excluding golden eagle breeders i dont have the land or time to keep one fit and flying well, looking to take on some thing a little easier and smaller.
king regards paul.

Hi! NEI (Natural Encounters Inc.) doesn't breed Ornate Eagles, and definately is not selling birds... Also that's a U.S. based company so it doesn't seem easy to bring a bird from America...

But as someone said try to get in touch with Falconiformes ( www.falconiformes.nl ), they have lots of birds at good prices...

Good luck

I didn't know that, thanks. :)

The reason I thought I would give him an American link is that the US hasn't had a known case of H5N1 strain of bird flu as of yet, while new cases have shown up in Germany and Austria. Also with Africa showing up with isolated cases of bird flu, migrating birds may spread the H5N1 virus further throughout Europe?

Thanks Again...

Brittney :D

If you think a Crowned is smaller and easier to manage than a Golden think again! Think really hard again! Why not go for a Steppes or a Tawney to at least learn the differences between an eagle and a hawk - they are a completely different proposition and I doubt 3 years experience will have prepared you for such a massive undertaking. I know Steppes don't have the prestige of the larger hawk eagles etc but will give you an idea of how to handle an eagle. What quarry and land do you have for said eagle? Ask yourself do you have enough land with NO dog walkers, small children etc etc and can fly it daily to keep fit??

Paul

Hope you dont mind me asking but how many red tails have you flown in 3 years and where did you "get rid of them" to?

Also why do you want a redtail from me this year if you have cleared the decks to get an eagle?

Sorry, but I'm a bit confused here!
