DIY Telemetry

Hi Folks,

I currently use Marshalls Telemetry but quite fancy having a go building my own transmitter.

Do any of you know which IC is the most popular used in the commercially available transmitter setups? I am currently looking at one of the MicroChips (yes realy) IC's which contains an intergrated radio transmitter.

The amount or work is not important to me. I think that it would be a good project to consume my spare time.
