Was thinking of lineing the inner walls of my Mews with Polypropylene 8x4 sheets but been told by the company that was going to supply me with them that it would warp in the summer and shrink in the winter. Does any body on the forum use these sheets and if so have they expereinced what i have been told. What other materials could be used to cover the inner walls that would with stand a good pebble dashing from the bird and a good wash down when need be...

you could always line the mews with a cheap ply sheet say OSB then stick your polypropylene over that but stagger the joints. Aslong as you have plenty of support for the ply not too warp you should be fine.
If not instead of polypropelene you can put a thick visquen over the ply.
You can get whats called trespa but this is expensive but will out live ply by decades. Comes in all pretty colours also..;)

I lined my large enclosure with 3mm compact laminate; if you have a timber factory nearby that uses laminates, ask them if you can have some of the 'packing sheets'.
It doesn't rot, hose it down and if you want to go OTT, pack behind it with polestyrene insultaion.

I just staple builders polythene up. It washes easy, is very very cheap, so rip it down once a year and clean and spray behind it for mite. Re-treat the wood and staple up a new bit.

Hi guys i asked the question what to line the inner walls of Mews with thanks for the replys i have decided to go with the heavy duty clear polythene which i access to. Here are some pics of the walls with the Poly on what do you think is it also best to cut off the access poly at the botton of the blocks or tuck it in the gravel.

Just staple it to the lowest section of wood and cut the rest off.

I would cut it myself just incase it starts sweating in the summer and water gets trapped between wall and plastic. (just below the top edge of your top concrete block)

Hi RHH
Shutters could be used to blank of the front if that was a problem,

and obiously taken of during the moult, for maximum light.

Wait till i post picks of my FHH new aviary, it is a log cabin converted, probably look a bit posh, but it is what i do for a living.

Cheers Heike

use bubble wrap.

It acts as insulation , softners the blow if your bird hits the wall, and washs down very easy.

I have used plastic sheeting witout any problems , the sh** cleans off a lot easier than it does on wood.
