Has anyone ever used these?

Seems like they might be easier than regular plectrum mounts. That is, If I understand how to use them..

Yes, they are from Ben Long, I tried it and they were very good for my german tiercel. Very easy to mount and to attach the bell.

I have never seen these before in use so what are the benefits over standard cable ties. When I go lamping with my hawk I attach an LED light to my hawks anklets with just a standard cable tie and can do this with 1 hand.

Just a word of warning about cable type bell mounts on the tail.
A few years back I was flying a friends mhh which had a cable tie type tail mount on,he was kept free lofted, when I went out one morning I found him dead in his bath.On inspection he had his beak stuck firmly in the cable tie.His beak was not in need of a cope.I am not sure if this has happened before ,but I seem to recall JPJ mention a similar thing in one of her books.

I know of a female 3/4 Gyr 1/4 Saker pulling the same trick. Its either a suicide pact or the mounts slighlty dangerous. Werent they designed for suspending cables anyway?

Interesting posts. The beak stuck stories are a bit disturbing..

Do they just attach to one feather? It would seem that might be heavy on the feather? After reading most of Nick Fox's book, getting as much equipment off the legs seems like good idea, just considering different tail mounts.

Fitting a plectrum type mount is quite simple and easy.

Cable ties are for tying cables together!
