just a quick reply to u all about my question on waterproofing that i was asking about i found out what i needed to know from someone that has got a lot of knowledge on the subject . a big thanks to all those that gave a posative reply and to all those that came out with the stupid comments which was the majority of you ......i bet when you all have wrote on the back of a postage stamp what u know about falconry you will still have room for ur full name and address and post code and before anyone has anymore stupid reply on the matter no i am not a beginner to falconry.with 24yrs of practacing the sport i would say that i know enough to get by but the real truth is this no matter how good u think u are there is still a lot to learn.but if you think you are perfect with nothing to learn and all you do is want to have a go at someone who wants to ask a question on anything to do with the art of falconry then believe me you are doing no good to yourself or to falconry in general

yeah i agree with abbot...........when you ask a question....too many ppl come out sarcy remarks as though they knw it all.......i am beginner and when i see sarcy replys to some posts from experienced falconers.....i think twice before asking a question just incase i get slagged off or something........

I thought the whole idea of this forum was to help each other especially us newbies....get some advice from experienced falconers......but sometimes it seems that a thread turns into slagging contest......

just thought i'd share my opinion.......as abbot said no matter how much experience you have, there's always more to learn..........

hi mate unfortunatly you will always get the falconer that thinks he is perfect but believe me you normally always find that they are the people that know almost nothing at all but in time you will find that out for yourself

well said!
i know i sometimes sound like i no everyfing but id never criticise a fellow falconer without a good reason e.g. ahrming a bird and even then it would be a constructive criticism! its true you never stop learning! is the iff always like this or is just a fluke

i agree totaly new falconers should ask questions but it is a mine field out there and so much to learn.... basic hawking husbandry skills should be the start so going into advanced topics just get confusing...i now know that jhonny is not new to our sport but never slagged him off personly just gave my opinion....:drinkers:

dont know but most of the threads and replys i read they are so stupid or nothing to do with falconry at all when i first started in 1982 ther was hardly anyone in the yorkshire area with birds so it was hard to get info about anything.then me my dad and brother who also was falconers my dad is no longer practacing the sport met up with about 7.....8 other people and we went hunting up at mallam or to york and a few other places but over time they either stopped hawking or lost contact great shame as they were good set of lads with some fantastic hawking days

Personally if i was to make such an enquiry ref a subject that would obviously be a controversal subject in falconry circles i would of worded it slightly differently in order to show that it was something that had been tried before.
Just asking if anybody had tried spraying their birds with waterproofer was i would of thought provoking such answers.
There are many stupid questions asked on this forum some innocently and some with a more loaded reason.

if you knew the answer m8 why ask the question?
As said before it`s a forum, just utilise the answers that suit you.
Besides think again about the image such a question shows.
If i was an anti i could have a field day with it.
