Brought a hawking vest from our very own Hawkmaster and would like to say thanks for a great service.
Vest arrived following day. Great style, well made, please see photo's. Would highly recommend anyone looking for a vest to get one from him, reasonably priced compared to all the others I looked at.

Been out using it and it not only looks good but does the job brilliantly.

lol,
i also got a HM hawking vest, its good, and i think its worth every penny.i use to hunt in it alot but after a while i decided to go back to the bag, vests arent just for me, much easyer covering a kill and putting it in a bag. i still use the vest if im going out for a flight just following on, not expecting anything.

don't know if its still the same design as mine but i have a problem with the elastic straps on mine. anymore than one pheasant and it starts to head towards your knees. any thoughts on changing to a seat belt type strap - hm?

Haven't had a problem with my harris coming off her kill. I give her plenty of time to relax and offer her meat and she has comes off really well each time.

Went out last Sunday and caught four rabbits with the bird - her name is Reagan - found the vest very comfortable, will be interesting to see if it heads south over time with use? Any more than than two in a traditional hawking bag and I found it awkward to climb over fences/gates, just got in the way.

The bag is great if you're out with mates, they can carry the rabbits, but with a Hawk, ferret box and bag to hump around the vest is best!

ps
My better half says it's Dec!!!!!

Thanks for the kind words Shaun.

The elasticated strap or webbing type is something I have had many conversations about and the reason I have opted for the first one is that it is a lot more comfortable on the shoulders when running. As you load it with quarry it does sag but it is easy to readjust it higher.

I also do the jackets in both elastic and webbing but only have elastic in stock right now.

HM'S vest is the Best,
Regarding sagging when you put Quarry in it...Don't!
Just take someone with you to carry the Quarry... don't be a loner it's not good for your Bird.

Back to what Albie said, I try to take out mates as often as possible and agree it can only make a better more sociable bird.
She's still a bit funny around the sheila's for the first 15mins but then gets down to business as usual.
I do feel like you can't take any Tom, **** or Harry out with you though, if they don't use their common sense or don't know much about field craft then it spoils the day. No probs if you're just walking out with the bird but if hunting it can just spoil your day. I've had comments from one guy saying my bird was more obeidient than most dogs - I don't think some realise how much time & dedication us falconers put into the sport and that the birds don't just hatch out like that!!!
You only get out from your bird what you are prepared to put in - 100% in is 100% back, 50% in 50% back. So if you put 100% in you're gonna get it all back.

ps been out today with a mates son who's only 8yrs old and he's great. Very enthusiastic and is eager to learn all he can about field crafts. His parents totally support him although they've never experienced anything like it in their upbringing. They all now join us in camping at the falconers fair, camped there the last 2 yrs and this year also planned.

Your right what you say about some people Shaun, and what I try to do is try to guess what someone might be like out in the field before I invite them.
Because some people are hard work if we get it wrong.
By the pics it looks that you had good day Mate..

Why would he? I think he likes me deep down, I just think my sense of humour must be misunderstood

Sprout lives in the middle house of three and has Gypos living either side of him who actually sleep in caravans overnight in the garden so that they dont have to pay their council tax!!

I heard a rumour that when he moved in they said "oh well there goes the neighbourhood"!

Sprout I think you missed the whole joke thing all together. It is obvious that MD does NOT think everyone lives in a caravan park and it and Albie also does not live in . . .

Never mind, I am sure you get the idea?
