In theory you might need an A10 to pass them on!

Don't know, just what I heard. Worth checking though although I'd huess it on;ly covered birds that require an A10 for the live bird as they effectively are classed as part of the bird

I don't think it's applicable to spar's, no blue form - so how could your register the feathers ?

I'll take the spar feathers off your hands Johnny.

If you are going to keep them. Put them into a ziplock bag and stash them in the freezer. They will last longer that way.

Thats my point. Can't remember, do you need an A10 for a spar? If not then you shouldn;t need one for the feathers?

Spars aren't registered anymore but do have an A10.

It was a joke - so many spars with bashed feathers they are in short supply! People pay a fortune for ****, will pay more for something useful on there! Sorry for jumping down your throat, its a sore point with me too - people going on about vets wages - I wish I got those wages people think they got - got fined £100 last 3 months running for going over over draught limit so money bit of a sore point!!!

You can give them to anybody without any problem, just a covering note saying they were acquired by deed of gift covers it.

I just spoke to Steward Castle from DEFRA on 0117 372 8649 and he welcomes any calls of this nature and is also a very nice and helpful man.

He said as did K, as long as Johnny want to give them away and gives a covering letter, then it is OK to do so. BUT if that person wanted to sell them on eBay or to someone else, they would need to apply for an Article 10.

Their job now becomes more difficult as that person will now have to prove the feathers age, origin and whether or not is was aquired from a live or dead bird and where the bird is now.

HTH?;)
