My favourite eagle to look at i think there gorgeous. I missed the falconers fair last year but did hear there was one there on display. I believe falconiformes in holland could possibly be trying to breed them or are.

I have seen a pair in nbopc years ago. They were enormous. They made golden eagle looked like a buzzard. When the bird hop down to the ground you could hear the sound. It's truely enormous. Definitely not the one to fly unless you wouldn't mind have your face eaten.

Here is some pics of them at Edinburgh zoo, they have a pair for a breeding project,
They certainly are huge when you see them in the flesh.

I think you're right, Falconiformes do have them and are trying to breed them. Hopefully will be able to see them with their Spring Fair! They do have a link to Stellers on the page with their birds: www.falconiformes.nl (http://www.falconiformes.nl) Birds and Breeding Centre, Eagles.
Extremely beautiful birds, one of my favorites. Working on a drawing of a flying Steller at the moment.
This picture was posted on the dutch forum a while ago, I think it was taken in Germany, not sure. But it gives an idea of the size and it's a cracking pic!

AKB has several pairs, but still too young to breed.
Magnificent birds, but huge face biting ******s I reckon!

They're really stunning birds! I know that the people in hellenthal are trying to fly one of them in the flying demo. I've seen them working with it and it was a nasty bird. He was biting al the time:twisted: , but he flew great!
Is Falconiformes near rotterdam? I heard that there were taken some steller eagles by one or another organisation:confused: . And this should be near rotterdam.

extremely good looking birds , but sorry , stellers are good for nothing....
their only interesting point is their beak, wich is bigger than phillippine eagle's, they have so hummungus beaks, because they feed some 85 percent with pacific salmons, and these salmons have a very tough hide.
stellers are sea eagles, in fact the largest sea eagles, russian ornithologists proved that their huge body size evolved because of the golden and white tailed eagles use to rob the stellers prey. in fact, there was some cases of aerial combat in wich golden eagles kill the stellers, :supz:
despite the huge weight of the females [some birds in exceed of 9 kilos] their legs are weak, in fact they have talons smaller than bonelli's !

You can see them easily in the wild up here in northern Japan. I scuba dive under the ice flow in February off Hokkaido where they live in winter.
They know how good the salmon is here;)
