View Full Version : Hey-op, another new kid on the block
Thought I should take this time to introduce myself.
I have been reading this forum on and off for a while now. But never thought of registering.
I am in the process of building a weathering in my back garden, ready for the new arrival in the family. Some company for my three ferrets. So I guess it's as good a time as any to get out of the viewing gallery and join the game on the pitch.
I have been out hawking and ferreting with a friend the best part of last year and fell in love with this excellent pursuit. Up till about August last year I have mainly been a shooting man :snipe: but falconry has really gotten under my skin.
As a career I am a woodsman and tree surgeon so being in close harmony with nature is in my blood I guess. :chain:
Anyway just to say Hi.

Glad you are making the transition JOHO. Still shoot myself and it helps to keep the freezer filled for the birds.
Good luck you will get a lot of advice from the forum if you request it.

welcome mate, nice to see another tree surgeon on here lol
Thought you told me you were a brain surgeon Paul lol
Blaze: We've been hunting mainly with a male harris 1lbs9, same friend has just acquired a male Saker but it was in bad condition when he got it and so will need a lot of feathers imping before we can think of training.
My wife will also get a male harris soon, will concentrate on one bird first before I indulge myself.
ButeHawk: Yes between the rifle and the ferrets the freezer does not stay empty long.

welcome joho the male harris rocks as you say just get the one first as you will be surprised how much time goes into one bird ,and not all harris hawks fly in hormony ie a cast so this would be 2 hawks flown at different times , hope you get your bird and have loads of hunting days and rabbits
