No, me neither, just fed him 2 chicks on bow, walked 10 yds to wash hands, looked back & he was in a heap. big piece of 1st chick in back of his throat. tried to revive him to no avail. Sad but where there's life there's death. We dont complain when we kill, once in a while the boot's on the other foot.

Alreet mate,
Welcome to our merry band of hoodlum chums. Very sorry about your MHH. How old was he? Are you looking to get a new male or will you stick with just the female? Sounds like you have a lot of experience that you could pass on if you wish.
choked on a chick, cum on surely u can come up with a better excuse than that.
ScotsFalconer: Cant see where this came from mate. Its a good job it wasnt a family member who passed away. Would you be so quick to jump in then? I dont think so. I hope this silly comment doesnt put you off coming back mate.
Reminds me of when my son almost choked to death on a mini mars bar. He was 4 years old at the time and his aunty gave him a chocolate bar to eat in the van for when I picked him up. I didnt even know he had it. I picked him up and drove home. As I got out of the van and walked up to my house expecting my son to be behind me, he wasnt. I couldnt even see him in the van either. I opened the van door and to my horror he fell out almost unconcious. Not really knowing what he had potentially eaten I just new he was choking on something. Picked him up by his ankle upside down and just punched his back. I couldnt believe it when a big lump of sloppy chocolate just came out of his mouth. I cried my eyes out for ages after that cause I honestly thought that he had it. It has put him off mars bars for life. Saying that though Mars are now the main sponsor I have for our Raptor Rehab Unit.

Welcome to the mad house Whistler
Sorry to hear about your male, but I guess "we" really shouldn't be that suprised, when this happens (though thankfully its very rare) we have all seen the way harris' bolt their food ripping lumps off and swallowing or trying to swallow a whole chick. even my large female made some pretty disturbing noises, almost gagging, when consuming them (chicks that is) Still you seem pretty philosophical about the whole thing. good on ya'

Hi all,Thanks for very warm welcome with just the one exception! The good news is,I've just bought another male (yesterday) 3yrs old, been flown, caught all the usual stuff with no apparent vices as yet, early days I know but fingers crossed. Mrs Harris is not impressed! but hopefully as time and weight go on she will warm to him. I think he is better looking than the last one but then I'm not the one thats got to make out with him.:D

Hi Hobby, thanks for welcome, from now on I will be watching throughout every meal, although new male seems far more relaxed over food than the gluttonous old male.
