Is there anywhere that i can get the black rubber for bow perches, as The blokes next door to me might weld me up a stainless steel perch but i would rather put the rubber on, rather than leather or rope etc.

To best of my knowledge it is molded on to the bow during manufacture.
You can buy 'shrink tube' plastic. This just takes a hot gun to warm it then it shrinks to fit. You would have to add some kind of 'stuffing' and dont think it would stand up to the talons.

I tried heat shrink and your dead right coedhirion it didnt last. It goes quite brittle after heating.
Looked good at the time though !!

Try Regal Rubber in Glenrothes, they do moulding and might be able to help.

I think what you are talking about is is called vulcanising! used to be used for repairing truck tyres older /more traditional gargaes HTH J

You could simply affix astroturf to the perch, it provides a better surface than the rubberised version.

its not everyones cup of tea, but it suits me m8! he could allways try liquid latex? it would take numerous coats to build up the thickness for a bow perch, but would work.ive got it in crimson red and black. it hurts when you rip it off though! but it dos leave the skin smooth and hair free?

I did think of that but im not a keen astro turf person, but not ruling the stuff out. it just means welding on some stops on the bow to stop it sliding down the sides.

Why are you not keen on astroturf?
Many people use it on aviary perches (me included) so why not on bow perches?

Could go for the back sack and crack wax and use it for a bow and make a nice hood out of the latex off ur back. also keepin the missus happy with their dominatrix tendancies.

I've got a few Crown bow perches - only problem with them (apart from the rubber loosening and slipping!) is the the little bobbles(?) wear down, hence the astroturf ;)

I find the rubber gets too hot in the sun in summer so use astro.......
err fix astro to the bow with builders tape then a cable tie to stop the tape starting to come undone with the power hose.

I have one old bow perch which before the ends of the bow were welded industrial hose was forced over the tube. The hose is reinforced and about 8mm thick.
It doesnt slide as its a tight fit and the ends are sealed with heatshrink just to tidy it up.
