not long ago i seen a unfamiliar x i think it was gos x buzzard, could it be possible to cross a harris to gos to get the gameness and determination of a gos but the managiblity of a harris.
thanks nikey

No, No,
Agreed, silly threads these are :!:
I hope not, It wouldn't make a more manageable gos. [a gos is perfectly manageable for someone with the requisite skills] It would produce an abomination manifesting the worst attributes of both species. I imagine you would end up with something which though it superficialy resembles a gos, would have the vigour & tenacity of a buzzard & the temperment & manageability of a gos. Thankfully I can't think of anyone who would wish to create such a Frankensteinian monstrosity. But then again??

A better reply than NO, NO - it seems many people actually believe goshawks are unbelieveable difficult to train and fly, and shortcuts are available by hybridisation with other easier manageable species. It would be easier to perfect basic falconry skills and then train a pure bred goshawk, it seemed people managed it for 100's of years before.

there has been a gos cross buzzard hybred,in the ibr website and its been talked about on here before.however i cant see personally what this hybred would achive,i wouldnt even contemplate using a buzzard/gos as i cant see what anyone would have to achieve,by using a buzzard over an already perfect accipiter like a gos......
just dont make sense,to me or others on here im not against hybredisation, but id certainly think of something better than a buzzard......

I thing the "No No" comes from seeing it in print so many times and still not believing it!

and sory if this thread has got some backs up im just saying what i seen. thinking about it now the x could hae been harris x redtail but again im not certain.

I cant think why anyone with viable Gos semen would want to blow it up a harris.
It has been tried and will no doubt continue to be tried but is hopefully always going to be doomed to failure.

Like putting a diesel engine in a Ferrari, yes it can be done but it defeats the object..................
