Right lads it's my birthday on saturday. This is abit last minuet but im allmost defently going to south wales near Breacon. I wasn't planning on taking my hawk but i have desided to if i can get some permission. I think it will be good to have it as a kinda last flight before he is put up to moult.
So if anybody is willing to go out hawking for a day with me or knows of some good land please let me know.
Thanks lads -and lasses.

Hi
Why dont you take a walk into the Black Mountains whilst your there.... loads of land for a slip there :) As long as the FHH avoids the clouds with legs :)

Too late for us, we packed up hunting last week as the baby bunny are out. From here there looked like a lot of snow up on the beacons, so you shoud see those bunny and hare tracks!! The forecast is for more, it is rain and sleet here at the moment, but we may wake up to snow by morning!!
Hope you have a great Birthday!!!

NO! You'll get caught in a second and be given a right bollocking......not only that it is the kiss of death.......the moment when your hawk just ****s off to the horizon and stays self hunting for weeks on all those new baby bunnies that are sitting pretty out in the open.

The pub owner we know has got back to us and we are heading down saturday early morning. She knows someone that used to own a HH that owns a lot of land in the mountains so we're all set up.
I just hope the snows still there!
Anything i need to take extra consideration on? Apart from the fact it's going to all be new to my bird.

Hi there,
Use telemetry and at least one bell. Fly the lower land if you can - there are big open spaces and a lot of wind round the beacons - an inexperienced hawk can be blown a long way very quickly. If you can find someone who knows the area well then take them with you - that knowledge can be invaluable in emergency. Dont be tempted to let the bird fly if you are not happy with the circumstances. A bird lost 100 miles from home is no fun I can tell you from experience. If the land looks good and the weather looks good and the hawk is keen then go for it. The landscape is superb and you should have a great birthday. Good luck.
