A falconer called David Gillon has just called me about his lost HH. He has lost a male harris hawk wearing perm' jesses, leg bell and purple ring (no curry or anal sex jokes please). The bird was lost two days ago in fields behind the old falconry centre at Kinross services.
If anybody has seen or heard anything please call pm me for Davids numbrer.
Cheers.
Barry.

He is a very capable hunter
It is snowing like hell here at the moment - I'm 20 mins away from where he was lost - but i'm confident he will be catching therefore surviving.
Going out with the binoculars etc saturday morning if he is not picked up by then.

Unfortunately David had his two young kids with him and in the course of events forgot to put it on - it was in the car!
He has been searching every day, with a couple of mates helping out when available and i'm heading over on Sat if not found by then, may even get an hour in today hopefully.
The snow has stopped now, we've had a couple of inches today, but it has been bitterly cold this week so hopefully the hawk has sought shelter in the woods.

Went out early this morning, tried Kinross golf course first then various other potential hotspots but with no luck!
Got home at 12.30, had lunch then got a call from dave's wife to say that someone had seen a BOP with leather and bells on........on Kinross golf course
Headed back out but when I got there and asked where the hawk had been spotted I was told "on the blue course". yes but on what hole roughly I asked. "i dont know" was the reply!!!
Turns out it was the greenkeeper had spotted him but he had gone home without giving any better instructions than that!
Spent a couple of hours walking the whole course dragging a bunny and with my other half carrying my MHH to see if this would help draw him in, but to no avail.
it is a nice pheasant hawking area that golf course so he should be feeding well ;) . unfortunately there is a house bordering the course which has a number of chickens (covered runs) so I'm sure that will be a potential hotspot for locating him.
Hopefully some of the other guys will get out tomorrow as i'm busy - Dave (the owner) is away on a course this weekend so bad timing!! but should get a couple of hours before darkness tomorrow.
A positive sighting at least, so he is obviously killing.

You are a star falconer mate.........keep at it, I know it is hard work, disheartening and feels wasteful.........but it will happen.........it will return....:supz: :supz:
It is at times like this that Buzzards and Kestrels need culling (or is that KILLING  ).

Hi Mike.......Well at least he is surviving the adverse weather conditions and is still alive. Are you still snowed in up there?
Best of luck hope you catch up with the little sod before too long

no snow to mention left at Kinross and temp of -3 tonight where I am, but a dry cold rather than a frosty one if you Southerns know what I mean ;)
He is obviously killing, any carrion would be frozen still, so hopefully he can be retrieved before he thinks he is better off on his own!!
Another mate is going out tomorrow and Dave will get out late afternoon, I'll keep you posted.
Cheers
