Help wanted south west Wales area Please.
Is there any body who is willing to let me tag along and gain a bit of experience in the field.
I have absolutely nothing to offer in return apart from my
desire to learn every thing i can about falconry, and maybe buy you a pint afterwards.
I have not got a hawk yet, as i am not ready, but intend to spend the coming months designing and building its future home, any ideas welcome please.
What is the best way to go about getting land to fly and hunt your Hawk on. I have the Black Mountain at the back of my house and regularly walk up their but seeing as this is part of the brecon national park i guess this is out of bounds. I have posted on Generel help and Apprenticeships, but nobody seems to be posting on their any more which is a shame. any information about courses would be welcome, are they worth the money or is it better to try and buddy up with an experienced falconer. Any ideas, advice welcome Cheers.

Hi Jay
I am in Garnant Carmarthenshire, I am thinking of A Harris as they seem more suited to a novice.

Always been interested in birds, bop especially.
Its an interest i want to take a step furthur , have had birds of one kind or another over the years bred budgies raced pigeons ect, but because of work commitments had to give up. That was twenty years ago, now settled with a family, interest has been fueled via the internet read quite a lot about Harris Hawk.
Never really hunted apart from fishing which i still do from time to time and plinking the rats in my garden ocasionaly.

Where is Garnant? I am not sure how far you are from me, but you may be near enough for us to be of help. The hunting season is over now, which is a shame as it is days out you need in order to see exactly how much work is involved in keeping and hunting a BOP. If you want to PM me, may be we can work something out if you are near enough
