Last Sunday, we came home from the pub to find a pile of down feathers and a missing black jersey giant chicken. Our chickens are kept in a electric fence enclosure and since installing this we have had no problems with foxes. On investigation with neighbours is appears that someone was walking up our lane saying that they had lost their "black Hawk" and that the chip was telling him it was in this area. He was worried about it taking chickens so our neighbour took him across the road to our next door neighbour who keeps a lot of chickens. This field adjoins ours and it seems likely that the owner of the hawk saw his hawk captured it and took off with our chicken at the same time. I would be grateful if anyone has any knowledge of this to contact me as we want to know if the hawk has been recaptured so that we can confidently let our chickens out into their run. They are very wary of any flying bird at the moment which kind of backs up our theory. We are not seeking compensation just knowledge.
