Hey folks,
I have recently had to quit hawking for the season and give up Bob the Harris to a breeding project as I have to go out of state to work for the next few weeks and there is way too much work involved with shipping and permits to take him along. I decided to take on a new charge instead. A good friend and officer in our club had taken on a second Harris this season as another falconer moved and had to give him up. Well, it turns out that he didn't really want two Harris's and wanted a Coopers hawk instead. I asked him if he wanted to transfer it to me and he agreed. I will take it as soon as I get back from Utah where I will be working for the next few weeks. The bird is a passage Harris's hawk that weights in at 550grams and is just now starting it's first moult. The gentleman that is currently holding the bird used it for this season to hawk Grackles under permit in the downtown area of Fort Worth Texas and has been in the newspaper several times........hehehehe...This bird is famous!LOL!
Besides all that good stuff, it's time to tell the bad.......A good friend and fellow Texas Outlaw Dirthawker has just lost his charge while out hawking. His bird landed on a high voltage line (not a transformer) and was electrocuted several days ago. His bird was one of the best game hawk Red tails I have ever seen. His total head count for this season alone was 109 kills (mostly Bunnies) and I had the pleasure of hawking with him and his bird almost every weekend. He is a member of this forum and a great contributor of good hawking photo's. His name on here is Frootdog and his late charges name was Goose.

...............RIP Goose...................
