Our breeding co-op here in the States has been told we should get final approval on spars in about two weeks. We have bred other birds, falcons, but the spar project is new for us. Hence, some questions for the Real Knowledgible Indviduals (RKI's) in the UK or anywhere else, for that matter.
1. Our initial thought was to have the spars chamber/parent raised in order to have natural breeders...but recently was advised imprints may be more successful....Input? We did AI on the falcons, don't really want to go there with the spars.
2. Like to hear a bit about the types of breeding chambers that have been used. Size, cover for the male, any other special improvements that have been used...
3. Diet. We have a solid supply of quail. What has been the mainstay diet of breeding spars? Smaller birds (sparrows/starlings, racing pigeon culls) are available, but we have a concern regarding possible infection from that source.

Any and all pointers welcomed...

My spars breeding chamber is 12x10 feet and both birds live in this. They were put together at 9 weeks old. Both birds were creach reared and the pair breed in the first season.
I feel if the female has been hunted you have more chance of your male being killed.
They live together perfectly and know problems. They are now in there 3rd season and doing very well. I go in to the avairy as little as possible only to clean out and jet wash.
Just a little of what i do but this may not work for other people but from feed back of people with my spars, they are good hunters thats what matters to me in the long run.
My birds get fed on quail, rat, hamster, gerbel, guinee pig, chicks, pigeon itry and give them different food every other day.

For the record, how high is your spar's enclosure? <<]My spars breeding chamber is 12x10 feet and both birds live in this. >>

Not familiar with the term "creach reared"..please explain just a bit. <<They were put together at 9 weeks old. Both birds were creach reared and the pair breed in the first season.>>
