Been having a spring clean and dragged my spar perch out. Had this one made up for me after I tried to customise an old bow perch I had given to me.
It worked really well for me. 100% better against feather damage when bird bates because the ring can't lift. Found that I didn't really have to use a tail sheath.
Can't get these made up before anyone asks, but I am more than happy to supply anyone with dimensions so you can reproduce it. Spar never pulled it over and sat lovely on it always.
Found it absolutely brilliant design.

Seems like quite a viable thing, I have used ring perches in the past without problems.
I see the feet are tubular, has the leash ever got pulled under the feet and become trapped?

I think Gonehawking is selling one.

I have used ring perches for gosses and my only reservation is that the hawk can bate off and get the leash over the top of the ring in the 12 o'clock position.
So the leash needs to be long enough so that the hawk can reach the ground if this happens.
If the leash is that long, I think there might be a danger of the leash getting hooked around one of the legs as BB points out. Also, the leash needs to be fairly stiff or it can get wrapped around the centre "stem" and get tighter and tighter as the hawk struggles to free it.
That's the trouble with perches, they seem 100% safe -- until something happens. Hawks are experts at getting tangled up. I suspect they sit there for hours thinking up ways they can break their feathers.... :(

This seems to be the better option, rotating ring perch with the tethering point on the ring to make the chance of a tangle less so.
