HawkMan

Is it wild or did it come to him when called ?????????
If its wild id let it go again ? it could be 1 of a breeding pair?

HM - do you really want me to give you the answer

The owl is in A1 condition, I'm pretty certain a "wild one" wouldn't let you walk up to it, photograph it and then finally catch it with your jacket.

Rspca coming to collect it.

No it wasn't weak. It is a strong, healthy, aggressive bas*ard.

Moses,

Why would they release a non native species and especially a captive bred one ?

I doubt they will let it die in a cage, most likely rehome it to somewhere more suitable.

Get the dictionary out Bb - the owl was fit and healthy, easily approachable and easily trapped. It wasn't injured, starving or anyway other than 100 % fit. a coat was thrown over it and trapped - if it was wild then I'm a harris hawker or Barbary breeder without a fag break  Then read the first post again - a friend trapped it. Eagle owls in the wild have been recorded killing every other specie of raptor in there territory, and that includes eagles. They kill them when they are roosting. As this bird isn't native to the U.K I think a introduction scheme would be a disaster. There was a bloke in cage & aviary spouting on about the cliffs of cornwall being a good spot to introduce Eagle owls as there wasn't any wildlife on the 'empty' cliffs, trust me if that happened the EEO would wipe out peregrines and ravens in the EEO'S territory.Dave

Spent three good seasons digging ferrets out of holes for a mate with his harris and watching it mug pheasants on the deck before I saw the light. I was saved the pleasure of having one althought they are great rabbit hawks i can't take that away from them. Its a real shame so many anchors own them now. I could not do a harris justice on rabbits don't have that many on my ground

I may be blinkered but it seems a lot of anchors own harris hawks who have no or little respect for the sport or there quarry they hunt. Shame really there are some good blokes out there just takes a few to mess it up for every one.
