just wondering if people fly their owls with bells for finding them easier or whether they fly without them for the stealthy approach.
personally i dont use them as i reckon they would get a bit annoyed with bells ringing in their sensitive ears constantly. i did leg mount one a few times to begin with when he was first flying free but once i began to trust him more i left it off and he seemed a lot happier flying with just telemetry
if you have telemetry on your bird you dont need bells on it.the prey start to learn and when it hear them bells it run like ****. the rabbits by me do anyway

I understood that you should never fly owls with bells. If they escaped they would not stand a chance of surviving as they rely on a silent aproach to catch prey? No self-respecting mouse is going to hang around if he hears bells a-ringing

You Should Never Put Bells On Owls, If They Get Lost They Will Not Beable To Catch Game On There Own As The Bells Will Give Them Away Every Time

bells will just spoil the whole point of hunting an owl

Same here, just telemetry. Why handicap the owl by taking away its advantage of silent flight?

No point having bells jangling when the owl will make quite enough noise squawking at just about everything, as mine does!

im sorry im lost on this one. we put bells on other bop that need the stealth, and are hunting most days, not many people i believe hunt their owls so i would have thought bells the better for location. Unless a display showing the quietness of an owl.
though i dont have an owl so what do i know.

Nope
Whats the point? Theyre meant to be silent fliers?!! Telemetry would be a good thing tho! :D

I've been saying DONT PUT BELLS ON OWLS for 15 years. I always refused to sell them for such. from the responses, I'm gratified to note my words haven't been in vain.
