I wonder if this is the Same bird as I have seen twice in Swansea recently? with everyone being so vague as to where they have found birds or lost birds, its like a secret society...lol

Unfortunately the bird did not survive the night. When I collected the bird it was in a sorry state, wet and unable to stand. It had a fullcrop although it felt
very "squashy".I have since opened the crop and found it full of tinned cat food or similar.I believe this caused the birds demise. The IBR and police have been kept informed from the beginning.
We have been unable to trace the owner of the bird so far to keep him informed but I am hoping some of you will recognise the ring type and let me know.It is a green ring "BFL05"
Thanks in anticipation.

Whereabouts in SWales was he found fred? Only I've spotted a HH twice in the last week around West Swansea, and nobody so far seems to have lost one in this area, I was just wondering if it could be the same bird!

The bird was picked up somewhere near Bridgend although I don't know exactly where.Unfortunately I have been denied access to the person who found it.

sorry to learn the birds fate. as someone quoted a hawks for life. when i lost a mhh last year cos he untied a double falconers knott in less than 10 minits, he was there then gone i myself decided that ill never use a swivel again, we all will loose a bird at some point through one reason or another, it happens but i figured if it does happen you:ll at least have some chance if the birds not got a swivel on off getting it back or if you don:t get it back the bird has a good chance of survivel, i did:nt antisapate the bird untieing a double knott but we all know how clever the harris is, i kicked myself for days asking myself could i have done something different, a loop leash i hear you saying, yeh i agree but its a real if not impossible thing for me do having lost my right arm when a lampost jumped out infront of me whilst enjoying my other passion- motorcycling, **** appens as they say, know when i perch the bird i thread the leash through the eyelets and i don:t leave the end of the leash loose/ dangleing for the buggars to tug on, so far so good, gordon
