I have been involved in falconry from the age of nine but the furthest I have know them stray is about 10 miles.
Is this bozo for real
An RSPCA spokesman said: It is very rare for an eagle to fly that sort of distance.
I dont need to even comment on this mine of information

sort of reminds me of my old bosses wifes redtail, it flew off once when out hunting and wasnt seen for months untill one day when her kids were walking back from school down the lane the redtail appeared and followed them back, the redtail had some fun in the wild but came back when he wanted! well thats as much as i remember of the story, sara (as the falcon has her bells) might know the story better:lol:

8, i used to see a breeding pair near thorp perrow by the road, there was a breeding pair at the edge of bedale aswell, definately not rare. the paper should at least try to find facts! the internet isnt that hard to use, noticed how the paper calls it a pet!

I don't see why it is not possible I was flying a Female Gyr/Saker over 5 miles from home and it was her first time there. Lost her and I tracked her all the way home waiting for me!
This also never only happened once either!

"titarse"? come on!!! think of something original at least!! lol Yup the eagle is mine story is true wether people care to belive it or not is their decision. The newspapers have had a bloody field day with this and alot of things that I said have been twisted not beyond belief but twisted still ( e.g eagle was £2300.00 but hey that dosent sound quite so good)? This is probably why it appears to be hammed up. I do not believe for 1 minute that the bird is a "homing eagle" but the whole episode happened by accident and not design. I do think though that once the eagle was in the vicinity that she recognised her hunting ground and stayed in the area as the many sightings support. I once flew a hybrid falcon 15 miles from her usual hunting ground (a tip in fleetwood) she whent up as normal and ******ed off only to be found on her mews on fleetwood tip!!! This behavior continued every time I flew her away from this site.(this is the behaviour described as "The furthest I have known them to stray is 10 miles"
I cannot deny the timing is pretty good for us as we are opening our centre soon but if this was purely promotional don't you think we would have a website by now????? Titus

From the top then,
A never flown a black eagle in my life never claimed to but would like the opportunity to!
B " kept showing off" as far as I remember the guy I bought the birds from pestered me into coming out to see them fly I agreed to take him out for a day with the goldy which would hunt with guests off the soar something he had not seen before the offer is now withdrawn.
C The black spars in question, yes I bought the pair from a ****** dirty aviary on a council estate in liverpool. The lady who lent me the money came along for the journey was completely shocked as to the state of the aviarys for all of the birds (pair of gosses and a spar as well.) you could smell the ammonia from the living room!! The pen itself could not of been more than 5 feet high was full of rotting leaves and was also covered by a huge tree which cut out all the light?? Is this an ideal place for birds to exist let alone breed?? The birds themselves were in suprisingly good nick few broken feathers and a bit skinny but ok. I myself was very ****ed off as the male I remember being bred and watched him grow with his parents in an aviary (dual imprint my arse) and the female is a paul beven bird who to my knowledge dosent hand rear birds. If they breed for me great if not in the words of my backer "at least we have rescued them" they have a large aviary with plenty of good food and in fact are calling to each other every morning!!!
Just for the record I don't want to have a go at the previous owner as I think he had bitten off more than he could chew and was going through quite a rough time. He seemed like a fairly sound guy.
Please get off my back, get your facts straight and possibly consider a new mentor.
Fair play, Onyx25
I don't know you - or your errant Tawny. Or whether this whole thing is a publicity stunt.
But at least you came on the forum and put your side of things. Lesser folk would have ranted and raved and sworn and shouted.
Good for you:supz:
By the way, how many eagles do you have? Do you hunt with any/all of them?

Just flying two at the minute but will probably fly a goldy in the winter, was toying with the idea of a marshall or something a bit exotic but still find a goldy hard to beat!! Gotta be honest though have most fun with gosses they are just a bit easier to carry lol. Bit sick of the whole press thing the phone dosen't stop ringing and they can be bloody pushy, they ring up and say were on your doorstep can we have an interview! what do you fly mate?

Titus,
Me and a couple of the guys from Reading are trying to work out who it was that bought your eagle?
It obviously was not a newbie because you would not of sold it to one so he must be an experienced guy.
The reason we ask is that if the guy has bought another one, we fancy Having a get together with him and see if he fancies having a bit of a field meet so we can get a bit of eagle action down here.
Cheers
