Gamehawking ,
by R Turner and A Haslen.
What are people`s thoughts on this publication.
I have just read ithis publication and feel it is a journey of two mens desires to create the perfect "for them" Gamehawk scenario.
I found it not overpowering, but informative as they tried to present the "perfectly presented quarry" to their peregrine falcon "Tessa "
R Turner kept reffering to the past and trying to decipher the works of the great falconers, Emperor Frederick II and others like Simon Latham, George Turberville and Edmund Bert.
R turner presented this as an easy to understand interpratation of the greats works, so that we the modern falconer may understand their way of thinking.
A book worth reading but at a cost.

Julian,
I have to agree, a bible for the lowland or highland gamehawker.
Easy to read and divulge, it is good to read a booK that is not just a rehash of what has gone before.
Ray Turner, has to be acknowleged as writing a book that is so full of knowledge for the modern gamehawker that it must be one of the "Must of Read" books , if not "Must Have`s", in the bookcase!

Completely agree - one of the best books on falconry I've ever read (and one of only 2 I've re-read more than once - the other being Hawk for the Bush)

Getting back to the book "Gamehawk" - I bought this book for the information regarding feeding / conditioning of the hawk and applied them to my imprint goshawk, after a recommendation from a friend on here  . The methods outlined worked well, after the moult I will try to reclaiming method also described in the book.

I don't think the majority do Gaz, most people seem to feed up on the kill. The limiting of blood intake and the washing / rinsing of blooded meat (not hard washed meat but rinsed of excess blood) were the main points of interest to me.
