I don't use a lamp or artificial light............................I use night-vision. Fox and rabbit mainly but occaisionally pigeon if the lie of the land allows.
Is night-vision classed and artificial light?;-)........................

Pigeon are not game!
But why woulsd anyone wish to shoot something that is disadvantaged by the lack of light?
Okay, rabbits foxes etc tend to be more nocturnal, but birds?

Yes mate I know............I was just dangling a carrot:goodman: on a clear night, just the scope is ofte good enough, so in theory, not artificial light:D ;-)

.......................also it is NOT acceptable to shoot a fire arm into the air, for obvious reasons.
Only shoot with a safe back stop and you know exactly what is behind the target, and that your target IS what you are shooting at. At night a fox just might be a cow at distance..........................but there again, the eyes might show up as a different colour!!!!!!!!!!

..it is also deemed 'un sporting' to shoot game on the ground or in trees; that is why shoots are either driven or beated.
Anyone can hit a sitting target!!!!

Although I have a 12g. its only for playing with; I much prefer my 'real' hardware, centrefires and my Anschutz carbine .22. To tell you the truth, I'm bloody hopeless with the 12g.

i took a big dog fox on saturday night ,,,, paced out at 250yards , with my trusty 223

My .222 and old .243 would turn rabbits inside out and there's no messing with foxes but then again, unless stated on the ticket, anything bigger than a .22 is not 'suitable' for rabbit. Over kill.
A head shot on rabbit leaves the meat in tact......................

Maybe its a good thing your not aload a bullet gun if you intend to shoot moving objects with it (gamebirds)!
BTW you must be an awesome shot with an air rifle to get moving pigeons.

Handles superbly!

yes,
day and night, went out roe buck stalking last night, ended up with a 100yd belly crawl to within 40yds of buck due to land falling away, when stick broke and spooked the buck and away he went.
But , it is about being there and participating and being at one with nature, not always the kill!
