I am one of those that enjoy going out with the air rifle and shooting a few rabbits.

What do you guys use too locate the lead slug.

The other day I was giving my HH a front rabbit leg not thinking much of it as all rabbits are head shots but luckily enough the lead slug fell out so it travelled from head too front leg. This obviously got me worried a bit as i have a freezer of rabbit heads thinking that the dense head would hold the soft lead slug.

Hi mate im like you wondering about in woods and meadows, most of the time I try to get a side on shot (HEAD) but I know you cant always.
I use eley wasps in my Rapid 7 hard pellets I have shot at bricks and the pellets does not loose its shape normally you can feel the pellet in the rabbit and I just cut it out or pull it out with a pair of long nosed pliers just to see if it has hit a bone and split up in the rabbit.

Every piece of shot game I get from Mass is shot with non toxic pelets.
I have yet to get a carcase without an entry and an exit wound :supz:

a head shot with my rapid usually has an entry and exit wound using logun penetrators but if not i just discard the head.

always have a good look at the rest of it to make sure it hasnt been wandering around with another pellet from someone elses poor shooting though

tried the non toxic dynamics once ........... a 6" x 4" group at 30 yards so i figured i better not use them  some of the pellets even struck the target sideways.

normal group at 30 yards 5 out of 7 are touching and the other 2 are not too far away

I feed freshly shot rabbits to my eagles. They are shot through the head with a .22 rimfire and the head is discarded because although the bullet passes through small fragments or lead residue can remain.
3 years ago I fed my male goldie a pheasant from the freezer that the gos had caught.Within a couple of days I noticed he was not right.I took him to the vet and an x-ray showed a shotgun pellet in his gizzard. He was given something to flush the pellet out and he was ok.
He was moulting at the time and weighing over 8lbs and that one pellet brought him to his knees, literally ,which was classic lead poisoning symptoms.
It just shows how careful you have to be,the pellet had undoubtedly come from the pheasant.

hi midlandhawker they do them in two sizes head diameter 5.56mm also 5.54mm. so one should fit your s410 more easily.but not quite sure wich is best for your gun as i use DYNAMIC air bullet for spring rifles,
i now my friend uses two types one for is b.s.a super ten and a differant one for is s410.and there both .22cal.
