As the falconry fair approaches I was thinking of getting a raptor post but still not convinced with them, so would appreciate the pro's & cons for both...cheers

Does your bow perch cause your hawk problems ?

Only reservation i have about the raptor post is the way you have to secure the leash ie, tie it off.
In order to do this you need to bend down and present your head at the same level as the birds talons.
Now we all say our birds are non footers etc, but why present the opportunity?
Again, you would not want to tie off a less than 100% manned bird on the perch either.
...aint said anything before, but my two bobs worth...falcons sit "flat footed.".hawks dont...

to outflying ive looked at ur mews design and think its excellent when tethering out on the lawn do u use a bow like the pic in the snow all the time also is ur gos pr or imprint as im thinking of getting a imprint male finnish and i will make the mews exactly like ur,s but i have dogs and was thinking a raptor post might be better when i clean the kennels out as i let them have the run of the garden and dont fancy the gos gettin up set ps the dogs are fine with birds thanks in advance midland hawker

She's an imprint Matt, she's on a bow when on the garden.

after having all my hh male and female for over 3yrs without any problems on raptor posts i carnt fault them no feather damage at all and refering to the artical nik fox has wrote in his book re hawks sitting flat footed i think he is referring more to the gos hawk something to do with there tendons in the legs but what i would say about the raptor post on the down side is that if you are not watching your bird and it bates of the post and the jesses are to long there is only one out come but there is a lot of advantages of the raptor post a well
