My gyr did that last year with a set of primaries. I've had redtails drop decks after they were done. No big deal. Just go hawking and watch them come back in.

Joey,
I always pick up an intermewed bird around Mid August if I'm not starting a youngster. Moult or no moult I'm going hawking. The season starts here for everything but ducks on Sept 1. So far I've never experienced anything other than a slowed moult but never a damaged feather. The reason I started doing this was because the weather can be miserable in SD by NOV. Some years I've quit in Dec which makes for an altogether too short season.
cheers mate i was thinking of taking her out in mid august this year and just getting her fit for 6 weeks then starting the season cheers for the advice mitchell brad
