Hi,

My name is Bob Beagan, and I'm new to the list. I was wondering if there are any Irish Falconers on the list. I will be visiting Ireland in early June with my family. We'll be based in Killarney, but will be traveling around each day to see the sights and meet the people. I'm not sure what our itinerary will be yet, but I was curious if there are any falconers in that vicinity. Any recommendations for sights to see or places to visit? Possibly we could meet for a pint?

Bob

Hi beagan
all i can say is that the two most scenic areas in ireland, are mid west ireland, and offcourse the glens of antrim, i must admit tho, i have never been to kilarney, and would be one hell of a drive down to a bet lol. shame youve going in the summer, could have got some good hunting in :). theres also another 2 or 3 guys from here on the forum too, maybe they will come on to.

Drive? Did someone say drive? Sean, what you think of a drive and what we think are two different things. I have driven 22 hrs one way twice this winter to see a mate(Iamweasel). Then there was NAFA 24 hrs one way. So, can you help a mate of mine out?

Hi Greg,

Good to hear from you. Thanks to Sean, Barney, Merger and all for responding. I appreciate it. Sean, I wouldn't worry about going too far out of your way just yet. As I said, I'm not sure of our itinerary yet. We will be traveling about quite a bit, but never much further than we can drive and still get back to Killarney by the evening. I just thought if there were any falconers close by, it would be great to meet them and maybe drink a pint (or two), and swap falconry tall tales.

I'm really used to long drives also. I drove 21 hours (straight through) each way, with a falconer buddy last fall to trap our female Harris Hawks near the Mexican border. Hey Greg, is Iamtheweasel a certain Texas falconer, formerly of the U.K. whose name starts with N?
