Hi Dmitri,

Are you the same guy I met in the UAE, two years back, at the Dubai Hunting Exhibition? You bought some falconry equipment from me.

You know who I am so don't try to pull the wool over my eyes lets see what you have got and then I will show you mine unless you want to wait untill September at the Hunting Expo in UAE then you will see real Altai's

Yours are as good as that though Terry.

My Altais may be good but it is the fact that this bird is wild taken and a new bloodline so of course I am interested but I have to curb my Interest as I have cut down to 2 pairs now and only really need to keep one pair. 17 chicks this season without trying so I guess there will be some bargains again this year. I have an IFF member with an option on a breeding pair that just have to go as I need the space but if he can't take them then I will offer them for sale on the IFF 9 chicks reared from 10 eggs

Here is a picture of another big and dark saker. Though I am not 100% sure if this lass is an Altai. She was caught in Mongolia, while the previous one was caught in the Altai Range.

Perhaps the more experienced guys here such as Terry can tell us what strain of the saker this particular bird might be.

Here is yet another Mongolian bird - the fastest and most aggressive saker that I have ever had. I got this bird several years ago, and she just suddenly died last year without any warning. Although I had retired her a couple of years back due to an injury to her foot, she was still aggressive as she was while I was hunting with her. To date, she is the only raptor that I have kept, who after eating two full pigeons, would bate at a third as well.

In many respects, this bird was more gyr than saker. She could fly down ducks in level flights, (I flew her off the fist at mallards), and would bate at nearly eveything that flew or ran, when she was hungry.

She was also great friends with my GSP bitch Brandy who wud bring her sparrows to eat.

In the old Indian and Persian baaznamas, bird of this type (built, plumage and temperament) are known as "Shankar, Shunqar or Shanghar" falcons, and are believed to be natural hybrids between sakers and gyrs.

Hey Bhai...

That is a wonderful bird.... But that Altai saker earlier is so much better looking. Wild birds look so feather perfect .... Keep the pictures coming...:supz:
