View Full Version : Censorship ??
I thought I put a valid point of view forward here, agreed with by the few members who read it this early on a Sunday morning - why was it removed ?

Your post got removed? Maybe you touched a nerve? Or maybe it was considered to be too hard for people to read - what with it having punctuation and correct spelling and a coherent structure?
That's a bit of a shame.

I've had no private message to explain why the thread has been removed. If I had said something offensive or attacked individual mods/members then I might have understood it.

Tht thght did pss thru mi mind :)

Your post should not have been removed! It was not offensive in any way, it contained no bad language, and was not an attack on anyone, just a simple expression of opinion! So I would also like to know why free speech has been removed from this forum! come on Mods at least give an explanation.

Maybe someone made a mistake? It could have been a wrong press of a button quite easily. Is the original post in your cache anywhere? You could re-post it maybe?

It works the other way as well............Threads are closed at a point when someone slags off another while the person isn't online to answer back and others viewing the thread are left with a negative feedback on a person...............
ie.........the plumbgate thread...it has been left with myself looking like a lemon who sells birds to just anyone.........it portrays me as a breeder, which I am not.........it portrays me as greedy which is far from the truth.
It also allows the originator of the thread to change his story to suit himself.............ie; look at his first post on where the bird came from, then look at his last post on the subject.............because it is suddenly closed I get no chance to answer him or point out his sudden change of story.............
The threads should not be closed until the person concerned has a chance to put their side of a story.........
But also threads should not be closed without a reason being given to the originator of the thread.
So I totally back you 100% mate...........cheers, John

And I know me and you have had words before which was my fault in getting you mixed up with someone else, but at least the thread stayed open for us to sort it out like adults .........Cheers, John.

I tell u what John you are dead right. Since you have mentioned the thread about Plumbrite I have gone back and read all there is to see. To be honest, the complete turn around has shown you to look like a ******. If I were u mate I would be making some serious representations.
I know that forums have to be moderated, and we need to probably present a more positive image with regards to falconry, but what we also need to realise is that what we do is a hobby and sometimes evn more than that. I am sure that if this was a forum about model aircraft then we would not be as heavily moderated as we are now. Maybe, this is the nature of what we do and who we are. We are all just very passionate about what we do.

Gosh guys!
The forum, mods and Admin are really out to get ALL of you?
Never mind there is always the opt out option if you do not like things?
Ask a friendly mod I am sure they would oblige to remove you and ban all past and future IP addresses:lol:
Maybe you should look at the bigger picture and realise things are taken into account like what MAY happen if a thread is allow to continue?
Personally I think everyone is too serious over a forum, I have more interesting things to contend with so will not respond further!

Paul, not wishing to fall out with you mate but that is exactly the point being made...........
If a thread is allowed to continue it will or can cause damage I agree.......But on the other side of the coin when a thread is closed like the plumgate thread last night and it leaves my reputation in the eyes of some as a complete ******* who has no conscience about birds welfare then isn't that as bad??
If your easy answer is for people to opt out of the forum then please OPT me out mate...........I won't be a quiet little mouse on here saying nothing to please others and I won't sit back and let a ***** like Miguel throw **** at a reputation I have worked ****ing hard to build up, and not have the chance to post back!!!!!!!!!!!
So if you think I am wrong about this then and the other powers that be think so then do opt me out of the forum by all means..........

I am confused. i cant see where yarak1 has said he is leaving of his own free will. i was on the understanding it is in hawkmasters hands? i am also on the understanding this is a public forum and if you get a hard time unfairly you should be able to defend youself without the tread being closed making you look a fanny! especially somone who contributes greatly to the forum.
By opting yarak1 off the forum is that not the same as saying " you cannot defend yourself if the mods decide to close the thread" so everyone can see you being accused but you cannot respond. if thats the case then its not right!

Where does it say in this thread that Yarak1 actually says that he wants to leave the forum? Question............... does it mean that if we do not agree to your dictatorship then we get thrown off?

No it means, if things are not seen your way and you wish to make threads of leaving, then, leave, do not say you are going to.

I haven't/didn't read many of the posts on the Plumber thread simply because of the mud slinging or so I took it to be. None of the mud came my way so it didn't matter to me. But, as a breeder, I know all about selling what I considered as well bred birds to people who talk a good line and end up with a train wreck. I think every breeder in the world has had that problem from time to time. Two examples, one was a very well bred anatum out of Canadian imported birds. The one I flew was a top, went 100 feet higher every time I flew her. At one point I decided to keep her and intentionally lowered her pitch for fear of an accident. One of her sisters went to a falconer who sang a great line. He bitched and complained so I decided to replace her the next year and took her back with that promise. The first thing I noticed is almost every primary was either broken or tipped, he hadn't mentioned that. Secondly she was a confirmed pole sitter something that drives me crazy. The first time I put her on wild game she flew great, after getting off that pole. I GAVE her to a falconer with the knowledge she was what I would call a mar-hawk but she had the drive to be a good one. He had to bring it out in her, that was all. That fool eventually ended up badmouthing me and the stock though he was well warned about her, after he lost her. The other was a peales tiercel I sold to someone who was told how to fly the bird by myself and another falconer who knows peales. He didn't listen to one word of the advise and ended up with a complete mess. I told him to go **** up a rope when he complained. Later I found out he'd been a good falconer, a long time ago but too much cannabis got in his way. Anyway he sung a good song. So I understand full well about buyers. There are a lot more examples from over the years but I'll stop here. I or close friends fly birds from first time breedings and get to know them so we have a good idea of what they are about.
Think of it this way. Reputations and egos are fragile. People can say almost anything they want to, within a few limits. Most of it is simply background noise. You know who and what you are more so than your closest friend. And, on these Internet chat forums there are a lot of pretenders. So what!
I despise censorship. But, to qualify this, there are times it is necessary to insure the health of the whole. The biggest problem is when to exercise the option. To some it will be a relief and to others it might seem unnecessary. Your going to **** someone off.
Censorship is the one thing I usually don't care for but do understand it may be necessary on the RARE occasion

I normally type something out on outlook express then cut and paste it. I figure my spelling us normally OK and don't use the spellchecker. When I got around to deleting the outlook express the typo came out and slapped me in the face. He just beat me to it. Honest it wasnt' on purpose. An unintentional malaprop

There should be an easy to use spell checker. I'll use it<G> I sometimes slip into a different vernacular which will drive a spell checker nuts.

Thanks bud.
Just looked in at the eyeas peales. They are up and on their feet, both falcons. One was so big the tiercel was feeding her and standing on the edge of the nest ledge which is a few inches taller than the eyeas. They were eyeball to eyeball. Tain't bad if ya ask me, provided your partial to peales<G>
