How many People would be interested in a forum BBQ we could arrange a field, set up the tents and have a good old drink, we could bring the dogs and have a fight! (Joke) It owuld take a bit of organising but we could charge a tenner a head for the food and bring your own booze. any interest?

We could find somewhere more central, obviously there would be some traveling involved, it could be a good thing, get to know a few members etc. etc. if it is a success, we could make it an annuall thing, its just a thought.

I gather there are approximately 2000 members on this forum. I don't know what percentage are male and female. but anything like that many men all trying to gain control of the BBQ, could potentially end up being the great fire of the forum. I can also imagine a few chestnuts being involuntarily roasted as well.

how about people bring their falcons and pay a small fee and make it a competition, a panel of judges decides who's falcon flew the best and who's lure swinging was the best, the winners get a small prize! would be a good idea and a good opportunity to video some falcons flying and maybe even sell some copies of the tapes? just an idea, ben

We cant even agree to disagree half the time. I think a competition is the last thing we should be organising.
BBQ, okay, lots of drink better, people may even get along, but combine a little idiot juice with a competition and its bound to turn nasty.

Harris,

Sounds like a great idea.

Hawkman suggests bringing your own pussy (tiger)

Should be a great bash, central locations sounds great, sandeep can ship the sand to the Midlands 300 tonnes should be enough.

This could rival the Raptor Fair at Newport

Who brings the houbara?

What they like barbequed?

kev's right you get to see the real people behind the keyboard, this enables you to interact with the personalities and is so much easier when trying to interpret what they are trying to say on the forum

ive made some great friends and had some great experiences

Last iff falconry bash was £20 for 3 nights per tent...not person !!

Guest speekers were Martin Hollinshead...and Ben Long (hood making demonstration)....these pushed up the costs for the whole w/e a small amount..

Also like to say that Pete Smith and his pals took everyone up to long mynd (however u spell it) kite teraining with perlins...and also (cant remeber his name) flew a merlin on larks...and other than the meeting up with fellow falconers was the pinicle of my w/e

i'd pay alot more than £20 for the chanch to see merlins on larks alone.
organise something like that and your have every one flocking wherever.

is it possible to set up a list of who wnats to go on the message board or something ?

Yep it was a cracking do, everyone got on great, many fond memories of that weekend!

Ben did a really fantastic job in organising it, shame more people couldn't make the effort to attend.

The "Clique" has met on a couple of occasions, the last being the FF, great people, great laughs many memories!

Some of the highlights were:-

Watching Ben scream like a girl while lamping, when Kev's Fern landed on him!
Laughing at Ben catching a rat, followed by him getting his gonads zapped by the electric fence!
Laughing at Ben loosing his keys!

Is there a patern emerging here?

i sent out a threat to see if there was any one meeting up at the ff and no one replyed. i'm not being funny but every time i see that something might be organised i post my intrest and never hear any thing else i've been a member for a while and i do enjoy it, but i do feel that unless youe in the "clique"
your doomed to sit infront of a computer. i havent joined a club coz the only one near me is the bfc, and unless you kiss ass they wont let you play a part.
i don't want to see the forum go that way, so if things are going to be oqranised can there please be so kind of notice on the home page or a mailshot or something. i'm not being funny i have allways welcomed anyone who want to hunt on my ground or just pop over and say hello, i thought this was a public forum.

the birthday bash was around august last year n open to all members of the IFF. it was just the few that came n the majority of those have kept in contact n met up at a number of times. there is no reason why people cant make the effort and join the "clique" its not exclusive its just the die hards that make the effort and have kept in contact with each other.

No chance, have you seen some of the members ;)

What people will hopefully discover is that the petty disagreements on this and other internet forums are meaningless when you actually make the effort to meet up in the flesh, as you tend to discover that we all actually get on. Until people make this effort though they wont make this startling discovery - I drove 10.5 hours in one day on my return trip to the FF!

I personally dont believe that this cameraderie constitutes a clique, just a group of like-minded individuals who like a beer and a damn good laugh.

How many People would be interested in a forum BBQ we could arrange a field, set up the tents and have a good old drink, we could bring the dogs and have a fight! (Joke) It owuld take a bit of organising but we could charge a tenner a head for the food and bring your own booze. any interest?

I would definitely be interested if the BBQ would take place in Netherlands, Germany or Belgium. Or Czech Republic or so :-). Maybe we should see whether there is enough interest for 3 BBQ gatherings. One great britain, one american or so maybe and one for western europe or so.
