what makes a good aprentise .have you ever wonderd what a mentor is looking for .as its that time of the year when people ar looking new birds and someone to show them the ropes and clubs ect ect .what about the other way round what would a time served falconer look for in a person that they are gona share there knowledge with it would be interesting to find out ..and could be a good guideline for them looking for a serious mentor ....

Look for somebody who listens and when they are told, stays told!
Dont tell them too much at once!, I have seen a few people create these "instant experts"
A little knowledge is indeed a dangerous thing but more than you know how to apply is even worse :!:
my mentor reckons a apprentise should always pester him andalway be truthful and always give it there all like me lol:supz:

Belirve it or not, I have found that someone who is really quite quight, but very observant seem to make good pupils, they seem to repeat what has been said, and copy what has been shown,once, uncanily,, but a deep rooted passion must shine thro somewere, someone once said to me, that you cannot really say what makes a good falconer,,they just are, and you cant really put your finger on why, some people are I beleive born like it, but they seem to be far and few between.

Ideal apprentice...
Gamekeeper with 1000+ acres releasing partridge,pheasant, mallard. not adverse using his land! with immaculately trained dog ( HPR preferable) willing to pay for the advice given !
would settle for;
Terminally ill lord of the manor with estates far & wide who is happy to will me the sporting rights ( for the next 50 yrs not wishing to be greedy)
