I asume the big stick was out of sight?.. (for the Photo)
As anyone else, who would like to get there bum scratchers on a merlin, you would be over protective.. lmao

I had to fill out a risk assessment before taking them to school - so I said I'd make sure the children washed their hands BEFORE touching the birds!

Your lucky to get them in school leigh, our LEA has forbidden ALL animals since my head of department bought a Donkey into the art room for the kids to draw!!!! I kid you not.

They're always together but in a variety of containers depending on where I am.

Are these intended for flying or breeding, be nice to here how you get on ,I flew an imprinted jack once ,It was bloody awful, i spent more time getting it of my head than hunting, and the noise was completely unberable, I kid you not, I swore I would never imprint to fly,, another merlin again,,,

I'm trying to keep my options open at the moment. I plan to rear them together up to fledging, fly them and then put them into seperate imprint pens, definitely not a breeding pair as they are siblings.

I've been informed on the "Chicks" thread that rearing imprints together as future AI birds may cause trouble. Does anyone know if rearing them together will still produce a good AI bird or not?

I always imprint one on one, I know a lot don't. But for me to get well adjusted imprints that are quiet stand voluntry and are mentally stable and are happy. And all are flown for at least for a season just to make sure they are worth breeding from. I Think Merlins even more so than the larger falcons, would do better Imprinted individaully. Answered you're PM matt

Yes, thanks Colin - I did wonder if that's what you were getting at in your earlier post - they'll be separated as from tomorrow - I don't want to take any chances - they'll have to take turns at going to school!
