y:supz: :supz: Thanks K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK, does anyone fly them together with mates then? How common is it for two eagle fliers to go out and let a goldie follow on?

I believe that Martin Holloinshead and joseph hebler flew 2 males in a loose cast in austria and had reasonable sucsess but didnt carry on the partnership for long enough to make any real statemants on the viability of doing this regularly. Marriene and Gerhard voigt have also been known to fly there eagles simulataniously at a single quarry, but again dont know how much or for how long.
The question would have to be why, especialy with females If a reasonable sized male prepared properly can take down roe deer on a regular basis why would you fly 2 and risk one getting injured by the other?

I know its been done, well not sure if both were female. Think it was in Martin Hollinshead's Hunting with Eagles, that they used to use 2. think I have seen it on DVD or video too. Not sure if the man from SE England dosnt fly 2 at a time as well. But they are sure to on the continent.

Many eagles get slipped at the same time at feild meets on the continent they are usualy recieved with verbal exposions like 'Oh S##t'. I have just been looking though 'MH hunting with' It was definatly 2 males that they flew and they trained specificaly to hunt in a cast, but as stated they didnt do it for long enough.
I am sure people do but again why bother, you just risk yours or the other birds health, even the most chilled out and well rounded eagle can get aggressive over its kills, why would you want to risk that happening on somthing as small (comparativly) hare. With 2 eagles attached to it there isnt going to much of a struggle and I know that alot of imprint eagle flyers on the continent are relying on there bird being ocupied with killing its quarry so that it deosnt start to resent the falconers approach, especialy in the early stages.

Try handling one 14lb female goldie and you will see why two together is uncommon.

gary balchin flew a pair of goldies, brother and sister for many years, ive seen them in lincolnshire flying hares, and killing with no quarrels, the female was the better of the two and would spot hares in the seat over long distances, set of with the male following behind the hare quite often jumped over the female and the male would take them on the run
