Not sure if this is the right area or not but here goes.
My daughters rescue buzzard was previously kept in dire conditions - a cage filled with razor wire - before we rescued her. When we got her her feathers were non existant (she looked like a chicken bless her!) and even though she got her feathers back quite quickly, she regularly loses them to the extent where she looks bold again. Now if this is just a normal moult then it's extremely severe.
Has anyone ever heard of psychological trauma by previously bad conditions affecting a bird in this way after rescue?
She's a fantastic bird, has a very large aviary, is out regularly with my daughter and in fact has an amazing bond with her.
The thing is, I'm pretty sure she may be pulling some of the feather out as she was bleeding with it the last time.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
