Hi,

i am looking for some Asborno/Velarde bells.
I urgently need two pairs, one for a MHH, the other
for a FHH.
Can anyone help me with an adress to order them?
Who has some still in stock?
Where might I buy some?

Greetings,

Claas :o))

Check the Raptors Nest.
Doug Pineo and Mikes Falconry Supply both sell Velarde. $35 at Dougs, $34 at Mikes.

I have an Asborno bell since 4 years on my MHH and
it sound still great and semmes to be "unbreakable".

nobel bells are excellent and I've heard good things about peales bells on here but I think he is taking a break from making them at the moment

I would say that the quality is top notch on a Noble bell. I have not had any Asborno bells so I can't compare.

Claas,
Ricardo Velarde is the original maker of that design. They are guaranteed against breakage. Velarde, Nobel, Asborno, are all good bells. Claire is right though Peales are probably better, just depends what tone you want.

Thanks a lot for your help. Will check pineo if there are any Velarde left.
Ordered two Pairs of Noble frm my friend Mike.
Peales Bells will be available again this fall. I am very curious how
good they are.

Are the tones of the Noble and the velarde bells similar?

Claas :)

Velarde has a little lower tone, due to the brass lower section, easier for some people to hear. I use Noble most of the time, like Greg said, a great bell, a little louder and crisper sound. I have a friend with some of Andy Peales bells, I want some.

Claas I forgot to mention, while you are on Pineo's site take a look at his Titanium figure eight swivels, they are awsome, best swivels out there.

Jeff i beg to differ here. In fact I knew Pete Asborno for many years and produced some of the best bells I have ever used, however when he fell ill & eventually sadly passed away ( early mid 90's?) Ricardo Velarde took over the 'helm' and unfortunately i have had bad experiences with these , having two pairs that cracked around the edge of the slits and the bewit keepers wearing away within 12 weeks of use on two Gosses. I have used for the last 6 years or so ( and now stock these Claas if you would like some see link below) Dave noble bells excellent tone, price and durabilty IMHO compared to Velarde bells HTH

Oh yes Claas I also sell a stainless version of this swivel, very little weight difference , but a fraction of the price HTh

Julian,
I'll check your site for the swivels. Titanium is just a tad expensive, with the medical and defense industries sucking it all up. A less expensive alternative would be nice, but still concerned about the weight of SS. Titanium sure does cut down on the swivel diving through the jesses when the bird remounts the block. How do your's compare on the dive factor. I need one for the Perlin you just might have a sale.
All the best,
Jeff

Just to let you know that few years ago I bought 3 pairs of bells directly at m. Velarde at the British falconry fair.

Believe it or not all pairs cracked after only ONE WEEK of use!!!!!!
I sent him many e-mails but he never replied.

Also, at the same falconry fair (few years ago) a friend ordered (and pay!) special silver bells with the name of his gos on it. My friend is still waiting for his bells....!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

we are using also the Noble Bells. I think that they are really good.
But I liked the tone of the Asborno Bells much more.

Richardo Velarde bought out Pete Osborno's business(ye old bell maker), when Pete retired. The best sounding and longest lasting bells I have owned have been Osborno's. The metal was Monel. Richardo has attended many of the Utah Sky Trials, and I will look for him their in Febuary.
