Apologies for what may seem a very stupid question, but someone like myself, who is completely new to this, and still awaiting arrival of his books to better understand but didnt want to wait that long...

What is an imprint ?

In general terms it refers to an eyass raised by a human not hawk parent.

I.e. it imprints on the human not its natural parents.
