there has been much talk about what age a PR BOP should be taken up at, espescially with HHs. some say 16 weeks others 20+.
but at what age do other BOP get taken up at?
redtail: ?? weeks
goshawks: ?? weeks
buzzards: ?? weeks
falcons: ?? weeks
whats the recomended age for these types and the pro's and cons.

Hard to really say I guess, as everyone seems to have their own oppinion on these matters!!!
I got my HH at 12 weeks, he was creche reared but I didn't begin to tether him until 16 weeks. Mainly to allow his leg bones to 'harden off' a bit longer. He was good as gold, and would come to the fist on his own accord, which helped immensly when his training began:supz:. We had a guy in our club that had his HH break its legs whilst bating when under 14 weeks!!!!!!
My Saker, I got at 14 weeks, straight out of the parents aviery; she obviously bated a little at first when approached but I had no problems with her.
My HH is free lofted virtually all the time, and I only tether him if the plonkers opposite have a BBQ or they get a Bouncy Castle in the garden!!!

Off topic I know but last year, they started having the BBQ right next to the fence behind the enclosures; they are not English , he's Portuguese, she's Chzech..............................all the family around in the garden until all hours singing etc. any way, they lit the BBQ and the smoke was filling my garden . I had been out shooting that morning and got a couple of partridge:wink: I went down and told them to move it as they had killed 2 of my birds and I was going to let the Animal Welfare know what was going on................................................ ..........they still have their parties all through the summer but the BBQ has been moved. :supz:

my nieghbours aint english either funny enough,
i think they are from arsolia, hence they are ars*ho*les.
they used to build fires burning rubbish, plastics etc till we had words.
they now use their wheely bins like every other normal person.
the problem is they only just moved in as the house has only just been built.
now they own the neighbourhood.
its mad when ive been used to nice woodland etc over the back for years and years, now i have a big house there 6 ft from my fence, with ****** neighbours as residents. thats life.
but yes, its off topic so anyone with opinions on ages please.

young hh hawks legs should be alright at 12 weeks old if fed on a good quaility diet with plenty of calcium in it.i always use a suppliment ,a1 raptor, and never had any birds break bones(legs) or never had any come backs with weak leg trouble from ppl who have bought them of me.
but the hh were all taken at around 15 weeks old.
personly i think any breaks in young hh legs is down to bad diet ie lack of calcium.or rough handling by beginners. or a bit of both.
