bearing in mind that you attend a centre every week and are a member of a club, you will have 99.9% of the things around you.

As you know, a transmitter is going to be your next major outlay:yawinkle: but if you really want other things listed,

files for coping Jacksons beak, a freezer for the food (I doubt your mum will want to open her freezer and have 200 DOCs looking at her)
a good knife for when out hunting (again, I have a few left)
Insurance for the vets bills, microchip...........................

A hood is always a good idea, make him to it at the start. If you never need to use it agan then fine, but at least you have the option of hooding if ever the need arises - accidents/dangerous situations can and do occur, the ability to hood the hawk and move away from such situations may mean you can safely resume your hunting later or even save a birds life.

A 'page a day' type of diary, for recording weights, performance etc. So useful in looking back to find what went right or wrong, both this season and in future.

A hawking bag or vest, to hide and carry those kills, lures and other equipment. If not supplied with one, a washable meat pouch.

Spare set of leash, jesses and swivel, in case of loss in field.

A set of phone numbers sealed in laminating film, for when the proverbial has hit the fan, and the mobile does not work.

The best wishes for your hawking future from all on here??

If you are going to be single minded and ruthless in the pursuit of what you hope to or should be hoping to achieve the last thing that you need is is a boyfreind.

Just an observation :yawinkle:

Remember to practice with your telemetry alot. When i did my apprenticeship SJ would send me out for hours tracking a hidden transmitter it hones the skills and you dont feel/look a tit when you loose your bird and have to get the instructions out to use it.

Sorry youre probably a little young for that one.
In the original books Ford Prefect has a friend called Rooster.
Its a long story and you have to read the books, but in I think "So long and thanks for all the fish" they are stuck without food on some planet and rooster starts eating his towel which has food impregnated in the cloth.
They then decide the towel might be a power source for the heart of gold only the barceque sauce causes the infinate improbability drive to malfunction and they end up at "the Restuarant at the end of the universe" after which they meet the hagunenons.

You have to read the book through.

Its quite appropriate reading for someone who fly's a bird.
In the words of the late Douglas Adams "The art of flying is the ability to throw your body at the ground with all your might, and miss!!!

How about a Falconers bag or Vest to put all of these goodies in, plus a smaller lure for use in the field, soon get fed up carting a dummy bunny about when you should have loads of the real thing to carry.
A nice set of bullet jesses would go down well for when you are flying your bird, extremely quick and fuss free when hunting.
Then you will probably want some nice warm camo clothing, and a decent pair of wellies, neoprene lined to keep those delicate toes warm on a cold winters day.
Do not forget the camera or cam phone to record you and the birds big moment plus the booze, in order to toast the event.
