Hi everyone, first of all id like to say Im new to this forum and it has been a pleasure reading through the HH threads, some great storys.
Im now in a position where I can now keep a HH and have access to many
hills and fields. Im hoping to get started sometime next year, so I have pleanty of time to prepare and study.
Just a few questioms for you experts if you dont mind.

Is 7 x 8 feet large enough to build my avairy?

I work shift patterns so would this effect the birds wellbeing? what sort of hours do you need to input?

Would my 12 year old daughter be able to participate with care, training and hunting with me or is it a 1 man job?

Can you reccomend some good books with varied techniques on care and training ect?

What time of year should I expect to be ready for If I want to get my HH as young as possible?

Sorry for so many questions at once but I just wanted to get a clear picture of what to expect. TIA

Ps. I live in Settle, North Yorkshire.

no problem with your daughter getting involved:D but she may find a male hh easier to handle than a female
and here is a good thread on books http://www.falconryforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=14450

dont be sorry for asking so many questions! Its what the forums all about :D

First of all, welcome to the forum, and i hope you enjoy your time here!!

There should be no problems for your 12 year old daughter to help out with you in the manning, training etc. of your bird. Gets the bird used to more people, than just yourself.

Some great books are that of Miss Jemima Parry-Jones, Emma Ford, Nick Fox and Phillip Glasier.

As for time of year, then this month and the next couple of months are the average times of getting a HH.

Do you have any previous experience with Birds of Prey (ie. courses, mentoring etc.)?

Hope that helps some of your Q's...

All the best mate, Jamie
